Tales of Halloween Trailer: All Hallow’s Anthology Previews in San Diego

Making its World Premiere at this month’s Fantasia International Film Festival, All Hallow’s anthology Tales of Halloween first made a stop at Day Two of San Diego Comic-Con with a trailer and a massive ensemble of cast & crew in tow. It’s an almost unbelievably packed ode to spooky season, crafted by a tight knit collective of popular horror filmmakers. You can check out the first glimpse, below.

What amazed about today’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con was the balance of cohesion and differing visions. The eleven filmmakers involved with Tales of Halloween have collaborated on a movie that takes place within one world, one town, but each have their own perspective on it. Grace’s Paul Solet spoke of a mischievous Leone and The Warriors vibe, while Neil Marshall’s segment with mutated vengeful Jack O’Lanterns seems utterly mad. Axelle Carolyn, who both came up with the film’s concept and couldn’t appear at the panel, has already spoken toward her eerie and fokloric segment, “Grim Grinning Ghost,” while filmmaker and producer Mike Mendez teased a rowdy “Evil Dead” vibe for his Friday the 31st.

Produced and envisioned by Carolyn and Mendez, the two have brought together a roster of horror creators including Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III & IV), Adam Gierasch (Night of the Demons), Andrew Kasch (Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy), Neil Marshall (The Descent), Lucky McKee (All Cheerleaders Die, The Woman), Dave Parker (The Hills Run Red), Ryan Schifrin (Abominable), John Skipp (Stay at Home Dad), and Paul Solet (Grace). Directors Kasch and Skipp are co-directing one of the short films together.

With ten segments, a massive film needs a massive cast. Tales of Halloween’s ensemble includes  Lin Shaye, Pat Healy, Barry Bostwick, Noah Segan, James Duval, Pollyana McIntosh, Kristina Klebe, Marc Senter, Joe Dante, Stuart Gordon, and John Landis. Below, find two new stills from the film, though it’s currently unclear where in the film they fall. The third image, featuring Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes) has been confirmed as part of Carolyn’s “Grim Grinning Ghost,” which co-stars Shaye and Babara Crampton and “tells the story of a woman who hears mysterious footsteps on her way home from a Halloween party.”

Tales of Halloween premieres at Montreal’s Fantasia this month. It’s out from Epic Pictures on October 16th. Find the very first trailer, below!
