There are a lot of scary quotes in this trailer for the Blumhouse-produced Creep, a film directed by Patrick Brice and starring Brice and Mark Duplass. The pulls are variations of creepy, unnerving and the like. In its most dread-inducing moments, that’s true, but the Creep trailer doesn’t reveal that the film’s true strength is how funny it is.
Funnier than it is frightening, actually, as this tale of a deceptive obsessive and his hired videographer finds the humor in Duplass’ crazy eyes. In the film, “looking for work, Aaron (Patrick Brice) comes across a cryptic online ad: ‘$1,000 for the day. Filming service. Discretion is appreciated.’ Low on cash and full of naiveté, he decides to go for it. He drives to a cabin in a remote mountain town where he meets Josef (Mark Duplass), his cinematic subject for the day. Josef is sincere and the project seems heartfelt, so Aaron begins to film. But as the day goes on, it becomes clear that Josef is not who he says, and his intentions are not at all pure.”
Creep is out via Blumhouse’s BH Tilt. It hits iTunes June 23rd and Netflix on July 14th. Find the trailer, below.
