Director Ted Geoghegans wintry New England ghost story has a fiery edge.
Ive been enthralled with the charred, physicalized spirits of We Are Still Here. Its refreshing as both a haunted house lover and gorehound to see a different breed of specter brutally force their limbs through a victim, instead of simply close a spooky door. Until this official trailer however, I failed to see the clever twist of a haunted house film that doesnt get colder when the evil is around, but quite literally starts to smoke.
With influence that ranges from Dan Curtis to Lucio Fulci, We Are Still Here is a rad, gory and atmospheric bit of New England Folk Horror. Barbara Crampton stars alongside Andrew Sensenig, Larry Fessenden and Lisa Marie in the tale of a grieving older couple, their strange new home and its demands.
We Are Still Here is out Friday, June 5th On Demand, at New Yorks Cinema Village and L.A.s Laemmle Music Hall. For more, see Shocks review and our exclusive clip.
