Director Josh Crook aims for John Carpenter and John Hughes vibes in the Cannes Market-headed horror-comedy, Demon Hole.
An ancient demon is unleashed by a fracking crew drilling on Native American land. Six teens must contend. Thats the setup for Crooks film, which Screen Daily reports will be brought to Cannes by UK sales outfit SC Films. Crook co-directed 2006s Salvage. Of the new film, he says The current crop of horror movies has gotten too severe and grim. While scary, theyre also depressing. Taking influence from John Hughes as much as it does John Carpenter and Wes Craven, Demon Hole brings the vibe of the 1980s back and invites the audience to enjoy the ride.
