Following a storm of intrigue and excitement after he released self-produced concept art for a hypothetical Alien sequel, District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp explained it away as simple inspiration, but with an assurance it could happen. That could is now a “will.”
Going back to the source, Blomkamp’s instagram (what a meeting ground!), the director posted classic art of the Xenomorph with the caption, “Um… So I think it’s officially my next film. #alien” Seems likely he wouldn’t drop such info if it wasn’t. If you’ll remember, Blomkamp’s Alien designs were massively interesting, featuring Ripley in the space jockey uniform, (above) a return of Hicks and visits to a sort of Weyland-Yutani warehouse/headquarters.
Surely, more to come on this developing Neill Blomkamp Alien film.
