
David E. Kelly, best known as creator of Boston Legal and Ally McBeal, but who also penned horror-comedy fav Lake Placid, will adapt Stephen Kings 2014 novel Mr. Mercedes as a limited television series for Temple Hill Entertainment and Sonar Entertainment.
To be directed by Jack Bender (Lost), Mr. Mercedes concerns a man who kills eight people by plowing into a crowd with a stolen Mercedes and the retired cop who vows to hunt him down. Kelley says, This is an amazing opportunity to adapt a script from material penned by one of the worlds most acclaimed and accomplished authors. Mr. Mercedes is a great story that will translate beautifully to the screen if I dont mess it up.
Theres no projected premiere date just yet, but Kings second Mercedes novel, Finders Keepers is out this June. [Deadline]
