With a worldwide gross of more than $524 million, Godzilla has proven his title as King of the Monsters. Even though the Gareth Edwards film hit Blu-ray back in September, Legendary Pictures has today posted a new video that provides a fascinating look at the film’s visual effects and shows off how much attention to detail is given when animating a massive Kaiju fight.
The reel, which you can check out in the player below, arrives courtesy of MPC. Among the films that MPC has also recently provided VFX for are Man of Steel, World War Z, Life of Pi and Prometheus.
Starring Bryan Cranston, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Godzilla was scripted by Max Borenstein and directed by Edwards (who is now hard at work on the first standalone Star Wars film.) After he leaves a galaxy far, far away, however, Edwards will return to the Godzilla franchise for a sequel, set to hit theaters June 8, 2018. Bornstein will also be returning to provide the screenplay.
