A little over a year after the release, and success, of The Conjuring, Warner Bros. and New Line bring horror fans Annabelle, a film that acts as a spin-off and a prequel to the aforementioned James Wan-directed movie.
John Leonetti is in the director’s seat. He served as the director of photography on many of Wan’s films; he even shot Child’s Play 3. Recently, I sat down with Leonett and Annabelle cast members Ward Horton, Annabelle Wallis and Alfre Woodard. Leonetti opens up about how he wanted to approach the film and how he maintained discussions with Wan in order to keep the film feeling like it was within the world of The Conjuring. The actors, meanwhile, talk about their time working in the horror film. Woodard, meanwhile, gets pretty candid when she discusses her encounter and handling of the Annabelle doll.
In the film, John Form has found the perfect gift for his expectant wife, Mia a beautiful, rare vintage doll in a pure white wedding dress. But Mias delight with Annabelle doesnt last long. On one horrific night, their home is invaded by members of a satanic cult, who violently attack the couple. Spilled blood and terror are not all they leave behind. The cultists have conjured an entity so malevolent that nothing they did will compare to the sinister conduit to the damned that is now Annabelle.
Annabelle opens in theaters on October 3rd.
