Hardy – who is an award-winning music video director – co-write The Woods which follows a London-based conservationist who is sent to Ireland to investigate an ancient forest.
During his survey, he accidentally disturbs the hallowed grounds and finds himself in a fight for survival to protect his family from an ancient brood of creatures.
Footage from the film will debut at Cannes.
