Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse Headed to TV as Animated Series

David M. Stern of “The Simpsons” will write the pilot episode and executive produce the series with Templesmith serving as a creative consultant.

“We have assembled an incredible creative team with David M. Stern, George Lopez and Circle of Confusion, which will help bring Wormwood to life as a fun animated television series,” David Ozer, President of IDW Entertainment, said.

“George Lopez is a comic genius and Ben’s graphic novels are epic horror comedy. Building this universe is going to be like a dream. Or maybe more like a super fun nightmare,” said David M Stern.

“It’s not often I can produce a series about an inter-dimensional worm. I am thrilled to be working with such a great creative team on this clever combination of comedy and horror, ” said George Lopez.

IDW describes the series as follows: Meet Wormwood, the English-accented, beer-drinking, sentient-corpse-possessing maggot expat from the Hell dimension. Well, one of them. If he’s not attempting to save Earth from demonic, parasitic fungal infections or undead strippers, then he’s off drinking with his homemade mechanical sidekick, Mr. Pendulum.

Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse first appeared in LOFI magazine in 2004 before Templesmith took the series to IDW where he published three volumes of the horror comedy series.
