PETA Responds to Shock, Statement Issued on Karen Black Campaign

To many, including myself, it felt like an ill-timed resurrection of a campaign that Black participated in years ago.

PETA, however, got in contact with ShockTillYouDrop.com today to explain “her widower, Stephen Eckelberry, gave PETA his blessing to revive the ad to mark the first Halloween since her passing.”

PETA Vice President Dan Mathews, who worked with Karen on the original campaign, says, “Karen’s respect for animals was unstoppable in life, and we’re thrilled to see that part of her legacy flourish after her death.”

A PETA rep reminded us that a similar posthumous campaign with longtime supporter Bea Arthur was run and sanctioned by her son.
