Del Toro’s Crimson Peak Loses a Cast Member

With the Pacific Rim promotion behind him, Del Toro is now focusing on shooting the pilot for the potential FX series The Strain.

Then he’ll move into Crimson Peak, his gothic horror movie for Legendary Pictures, about a woman who discovers “her husband might not be  who he appears to be.”

The film has already lost Emma Stone, now The Hollywood Reporter says Benedict Cumberbatch is out, too.

That leaves Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska.  The reason for Cumberbatch’s departure?  No clue.  No reason was given.  One would think “scheduling difficulties” due to another project, but his reps ruled that out.

Shooting begins in January.
