The Story: Based on Max Brooks’ best-selling novel “World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War,” the story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

Thoughts: Hmmm… A studio produced zombie film with Brad Pitt. It’s hard not to be interested in this one. Let’s hope the hype doesn’t disappoint.

The Story: In the film, legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, start rising from the sea and begin a war that would takes millions of lives and consumes humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Thoughts: The trailer looks awesome. I will watch anything Guillermo del Toro makes. That’s all.

The Story: Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, The Conjuring tells the horrifying tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

Thoughts: With James Wan at the wheel, I am anxious to see what The Conjuring brings. My main concern is that it seems like we’ve seen variations of this movie, over and over again. But, I have faith in Wan, so I’m keeping a very open mind.

The Story: A recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him

Thoughts: The premise is interesting and it boasts an all-star cast. I’m just curious to see how heavy the horror elements are going to be. It looks as though it’s being marketed as an action comedy.

Thoughts: I’ve been anxiously anticipating this one for over a year, now. I’ve heard great things and the film boasts a super talented cast, so I am counting down the months until August.

Insidious Chapter 2

Release Date: August 30th

The Story: A continuation of the 2010 horror hit about the fate of the Lambert family and their haunted house.

Thoughts: I loved the first film. I love James Wan and Leigh Whannell. I am eager to see if they can top or at least match what they did with the first film. If they do, I will be utterly impressed.
