So, here we are again, this time with new rumblings coming from Vulture – the same site that brought us the “Zack Snyder is doing a Star Wars film” rumors before Snyder’s people stepped forward to shut that noise down (although I am suspect about those denials).
According to the site, Warner Bros. is attempting another crack at working with Amblin on rebooting Gremlins. But they’re closer than usual to making some sort of deal.
Frank Marshall, an executive producer on the original Joe Dante film, was asked about the prospect of a remake last summer to which he responded: “I think by now we have something in our contracts, or at least Amblin does, where it cant be remade without Steven [Spielberg]s permission.”
Well, Vulture’s “source” appears to verify that Spielberg is a major factor in getting a reboot off of the ground, so let’s just wait and see how this all plays out before going nuts.
