Pacific Rim doesn’t open until July 12, 2013, but Guillermo del Toro’s attention in the director’s seat following the release is already in demand. The haunted house/ghost story Crimson Peak seemed like a priority, that is until Legendary announced Del Toro and Travis Beacham are already in development on a script for Pacific Rim 2. If Pacific Rim becomes the blockbuster summer movie everyone hopes it becomes, I can totally see Legendary putting the sequel on the fast track, pushing Crimson Peak aside.
ShockTillYouDrop.com asked Del Toro today which post-Pacific Rim project is going to take priority.
“We’re going to do Crimson Peak first,” he told us. “We’re going to write the screenplay [for Pacific Rim 2] and take it from there. Depending on the screenplay, I’ll do it or not.”
