This honestly should not come as no surprise but Legendary wants a sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. Duh, right? The movie’s going to be big and it doesn’t open until July 12, 2013, however, days out from the release of the trailer, THR has learned that the film’s writer, Travis Beacham has already been asked to write a sequel.
No word yet if Del Toro will direct, but he’ll be supervising the writing process.
Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Max Martini, Rob Kazinsky, Clifton Collins Jr. and Diego Klattenhoff. It tells of giant monsters that threaten earth and mankind’s fight against these beasts.
