Horror, however, was on top at the box office over the extended weekend. The Sam Raimi-produced The Possession took the number one slot.
The supernatural thriller starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Natasha Calis and Kyra Sedgwick grossed an estimated $21.3 million (4-day opening gross). This puts the film as the second best Labor Day weekend performer behind Halloween.
