Tuesday News Round-Up: Bodies At Rest, Hell and Back, Rise & Ginger

Sorry, folks…  I spent a majority of my day on the set of an upcoming horror movie, so I’m rounding up some of the news items peppered throughout the day that Shock missed.  They’re small morsels of news not really suited for big articles anyway.  It’s back to Los Angeles for me tomorrow, so we’ll be back on our usual updating schedule.

  • Variety reports Nasser Entertainment and Caliber Media are moving forward on a pictured called Bodies at Rest.  According to the trade paper, the film centers “on three thugs who break into a morgue to cover up a crime and the medical examiner and assistant who must figure out a way to stay alive as well as protect the evidence.”
  • Nick Swardson and TJ Miller (the “camera man” in Cloverfield) are uniting for Hell and Back, an animated film, says Deadline.  Tenacious D’s Tommy Gianas and Ross Shuman are directing this story about two friends who must rescue their friend after he is dragged to hell.
  • Also from Deadline, Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (of the Saw series) teamed with David Karlak to pitch Warner Bros. on Rise, a sci-fi/action thriller. Karlak is scripting, Roy Lee will produce.  Plot details are under wraps.
  • Finally, Bloody-Disgusting says Elissa Dowling and Marc Senter will star in Ginger, from director Buddy Giovinazzo (The Theater Bizarre).  Senter plays a blogger who travels to an isolated house to interview Dowling’s character, an up and coming singer.  Apparently said house is haunted by the previous inhabitants, a pair of killers.
