The director of Humanimal, Francesc Morales, is embarking on a new endeavor called Apio Verde.
Screen Daily reports the film is a psychological thriller set in Chile that is about “a young woman waiting to give birth to a son with a terminal disease.”
The story touches on therapeutic abortion (illegal in Chile) and, according to Morales, is said to start as a drama and end as a horror film. “The story is based on lives of many real people and it also shows how politics and religion get involved on a subject like this. Yet the movie is not a drama, but a thriller that states how this is not only an attempt to the human rights but also a situation that always leads to a violent resolution,” Morales told SD.
His previous effort, Mumanimal featured actors dressed in animal costumes and told of a turtle vying for a cat’s affections. So…yeah, we might get something interesting with Apio Verde.
