From Dawn of the Dead to Halloween
This month, we asked you, dear reader, to deliver an electric jolt to that brain of yours and give us a list: 13 movies that would represent your ideal Halloween movie marathon.
The response was overwhelming and the submissions flooded in. Classics; cult fare; modern day thrillers; even some family titles were suggested (hey, you can’t go wrong with It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, no sir). And what we did on our end here at Shock HQ was catalog every title submitted, extract the popular titles and sort them by popularity until 13 films reared their ugly faces. As we tallied the numbers, it was interesting to see titles compete for dominance while others â obscure films embraced by only a few – lingered at the bottom of the list of over 300 movies suggested.
So, here we have it. The results of this wicked seasonal experiment are here. The top 13 most popular titles in your ideal Halloween movie marathon. Some films here are no brainers, but I think the list as a whole clearly represents the enduring power of these movies.

Two films from Carpenter. Two from Craven. Two from Romero. Not too shabby.
Halloween, early on in the submission process, was clearly the frontrunner. And Trick ‘r Treat almost slipped to third place behind A Nightmare on Elm Street before pulling ahead late in the game.
Sitting on the periphery of this list, but not popular enough to crack the top 13: Hellraiser, Alien, Saw, Evil Dead II and Paranormal Activity.
