William Castle’s Daughter to Keep Legacy Alive

New projects at Castle Productions

In the late ’90s/early-2000s, William Castle’s legacy was revived via two remakes, The House on Haunted Hill and Thirteen Ghosts. And while there was always a redo of The Tingler in the works (with a script by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton), that never came to fruition and Castle’s resurgence on the big screen dissipated. That is, until the choice documentary Spine Tingler! The William Castle Story hit DVD a few years later.

Castle’s daughter, Terry, has announced William Castle Productions is back and will be focusing on publishing while developing a few screen projects.

“House on Haunted Hill: A William Castle Annotated Screamplay” is the first out of the gate. Released on Halloween, the published script contains hand-written annotations by William Castle.

Two young adult novels are in the works: “From the Grave: The Prayer” and “FearMaker: Family Matters.”

William penned “From the Grave,” about four kids trying to keep an ancient book out of the hands of dark forces. Terry, meanwhile, penned “FearMaker,” the tale of a 12-year-old who discovers his parents are murderers.

A musical version of Spine Tingler is in development and Terry aims to produce feature film versions of “The Mind Thing,” a 1960s novel her father optioned, The Toothless Dead, a script by Dan Dillard, and Animus, a television project William was working on before he passed away in the late ’70s.
