Award-Winning The Unliving Short Will Be a Feature Film

You gotta see this trailer…

Sweden’s Hugo Lilja has found some cash to turn his short film The Unliving into a feature film.

According to Screen Daily, the Swedish Film Institute is partnering with a French production company to make this happen.

The Unliving – a 30-minute zombie tale – has earned multiple kudos on the film festival circuit. Lilja tells SD: “The film is not your average zombie film. This is about exploring the human element of zombies and how people respond to them. The film has a political message. It was screened at the Berlinale and went down really well. It has one foot in the arthouse but also has commercial potential. In saying that, we want to focus on the story and its characters.”

Looking like a hardened version of Fido, The Unliving is set in a world where zombies are a “cheap source of labor.” You can get a taste of the film via a trailer below or in hi-res at TheUnLiving.com.
