He Can’t Do Sandman, So Kripke Will Now Adapt Deadman

From DC Comics & the guy who gave you Supernatural

Last March saw Eric Kripke, the former showrunner of Supernatural, announce that the Sandman television series he was developing was not going to happen. At least not right away.

Warner Bros. Television had been discussing adapting the Vertigo/DC series with Kripke just before pilot season, alas, Kripke revealed “for a lot of varying reasons, Sandman is not in the works, at least for this season.”

That apparently didn’t end talks of adapting another WB/DC property.

Deadline is reporting that Kripke has moved on to “Deadman,” the story of Boston Brand, a man who is murdered but his soul is given the power to inhabit the bodies of others to fight evil, solve crimes…that sort of thing.

Guillermo del Toro and Don Murphy were once attached to produce a feature film version back in 2009.

The Deadman character originated in the ’70s but he did not get his own regular series until ’86.
