Gadhafi Ties to Upcoming Horror Film Isolation

The upcoming medical thriller by Stephen Kay

Ever wonder where some films find their funding? An interesting bit of trivia was pointed out to me today that seemed relevant given the escalating madness occurring in Libya.

At the start of this week, we showed you a trailer for Stephen Kay’s upcoming thriller Isolation. The film was produced by the L.A.-based Natural Selection, the outfit behind the Adrien Brody-starring The Experiment.

Natural Selection is financed by Al-Saadi Qadhafi, son of Libyan President Moammar Gadhafi. A former football player, kicked out of the sport for steroid use, Al-Saadi dropped $100 million into Natural Selection, which was founded by Matty Beckerman. Another project on Natural Selection’s plate: The Mickey Rourke-starring Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer.

An interesting bit of trivia, to be sure. I wonder how many filmmakers were intending to align themselves with the company and how many have second thoughts now?
