Fright Night Remake Moves Up Release

Now entering the summer fray

Craig Gillespie’s Fright Night 3D has been pushed up from an October release to an August 19, 2011 debut. Coincidentally, the original Fright Night, directed by Tom Holland, was also an August release back in 1985.

The move can only mean Dreamworks is excited to get the film out there and they’re confident it can perform in the summer market (which will be busy next year). This is also confirmation that the redo is arriving in 3D. But it’s not being post-converted, it is shot in 3D.

Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Imogen Poots, David Tennant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Toni Collette star in this re-telling of a young man who discovers a vampire has moved in next door to him. He enlists a Vegas performer, Peter Vincent, to help him slay the bloodsucker. For a look at Tennant in the film follow this link.
