Based on Universal’s franchise
Have you washed the taste of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor out of your mouth? Good, ’cause the Mummy is comin’ back in video game form.
Bigpoint announced that it is developing a browser-based MMOG, “Massively Multiplayer Online Game,” based upon Universal Pictures’ Mummy film franchise. The Mummy Online will only be available online at BigPoint.com and will be delivered to gamers this winter.
In The Mummy Online, a “free-to-play Action-RPG MMO game,” players will take on heroes sporting a variety of skills. Set in Egypt during the first half of the twentieth century, gamers will “experience familiar environments and key characters from the film franchises as they battle against each other and ancient evil.”
“The Mummy franchise is chock full of exotic settings, supernatural enemies, exciting quests, and over the top action,” says Bill Kispert, Vice President and GM Digital Platforms, Universal Partnerships & Licensing. “It is ripe with gameplay possibilities, and we look forward to extending our relationship with Bigpoint to bring the world of The Mummy to life for gamers.”
