Wait, So Someone Else is Doing a Demeter Project?

IDW publishing Death Ship

I know that Bragi Schut’s script for The Last Voyage of the Demeter has been in development for a few years, but jeez…

IDW Publishing and writer Gary Gerani have cooked up a four-part comic book mini-series called “Death Ship: The Last Voyage of the Demeter.” Also culled from a portion of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” in which we learn what happened on the Demeter as it transported Dracula to England, IDW’s title ships in May.

Gerani co-penned Stan Winston’s Pumpkinhead and IDW describes the series like this: “Death Ship” takes readers on a blood-pumping journey on the Russian schooner Demeter. One by one, the terrified crewmembers vanish, victims of the unearthly lifeform that lies comatose in the ship’s hold during daylight hours.

Artist Stuart Sayger brings this un-dead tale to life with gripping interior art as well as a variant cover for the first issue. Popular hardcover and paperback cover artist, Cliff Nielsen, provides all four stunning, spine-tingling painted covers for the entire series.

Phoenix Pictures is bringing Schut’s The Last Voyage of the Demeter to life on the screen. You can get a bit of back story on that project in this feature.

Curious to see the similarities and differences between the two stories.
