Director rebounds from attack for horror film
Perhaps channeling some of the pain he experience from a personal tragedy last year, British filmmaker Shaun Troke is embarking on a new project this month called Sparrow.
Casting took place earlier this month with Polish producer Wojciech Stuchlik. Tapping into a familiar formula, the film follows six teenage friends who take a camping trip to a forest which is the site of a presumed historic murder. But their disbelief in this urban legend is soon changed when strange happenings begin to occur to each of them…as well as other campers who are fortunate enough to spend the night there.
Sarah Linda, Alexis Jayne Defoe, Dane Brookes, Nikki Harrup, Jack Carter and Jordan Greenhough will star.
Troke – who directed the 2006 film Martyr – was hospitalized last year when he was attacked; he suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain. He was also left partially deaf.
