Director In Talks To Helm Last Voyage of the Demeter

A tale set within the Dracula story

Just last month, producers Mike Medavoy and Brad Fischer had talked with Fearnet about the status of The Last Voyage of the Demeter, a story that steeps itself firmly into the Dracula mythology.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Austrian director Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Counterfeiters) is now in negotiations to helm The Last Voyage of the Demeter for Phoenix Pictures.

“Demeter” was the name of the ship that transported Dracula from Transylvania to London in Bram Stoker’s classic tale. In that novel, it washes up on the shores of England, tattered and broken, with one raving mad survivor.

Written by Bragi Schut (Season of the Witch), the story places the voyage center stage in a tale in which a crew is slaughtered one-by-one by a mysterious passenger.

This will serve as Ruzowitzky’s first English-language film.
