Glimmer of Hope for Tucker and Dale Distro

Has Lionsgate picked up U.S. rights?

Mixed to positive word has followed the horror-comedy Tucker and Dale Versus Evil since its midnight run at the Sundance Film Festival. Perusing the review landscape, we haven’t seen a full-on negative critique yet.

I’m sure that’s helping sales outfit Voltage Pictures find distribution. Screen Daily reports Tucker and Dale has locked up releases in France and Germany, with Australia and Spain soon to follow. But the better news is that a number of distributors are circling the U.S. rights.

Here’s a bit of speculation. Among the sales made, Canada was one of them. Maple Pictures picked up the film. The company is the Canadian branch of Lionsgate, so one could presume Lionsgate has the U.S. rights.

Stay tuned for confirmation…
