Original director answering the call

Kicking a dead horse? Maybe. Maybe not.

Imprint Entertainment seems to believe strongly in the remake of Phone, a Korean horror film by Ahn Byung-ki. The company is partnering with Mirovision to make this happen and Byung-ki is back to direct.

The film will be a mix of American and Korean actors and a start date in Seoul

Imprint Entertainment, the production company behind “Twilight” and “New Moon,” has inked with South Korea’s Mirovision to remake “The Phone,” a 2002 Korean horror hit by Ahn Byung-ki.

“I thought Korean horror films would succeed in Hollywood once Korean directors steer the remake projects, just as ‘The Grudge’ and ‘The Ring’ series were succcessful,” said Ahn, who will helm the remake.

Morgan said the project will shoot in Seoul and include American and Korean cast. The original film told of a journalist who gets a new cell phone number. When she does some investigating, she learns those who have had that number in the past have been killed.
