Family faces wrath of religious sect
A family is forced to protect their dying mother from the “violent wrath of a religious sect” in spec script called Mercy which was recently sold to Gold Circle.
The man behind the story? Chris Sparling, who also penned Buried, another thriller we introduced to you in August which stars Ryan Reynolds (Wolverine, Blade: Trinity). Gold Circle is fast-tracking the film, says the Hollywood Reporter.
Peter Safran and Paul Brooks are producing. The former also shepherded Buried.
We’ll see which direction the tone steers in. Could be horror, could be a straight-up thriller geared towards your parents. The “religious sect” angle has us hopeful.
