Set to play a lycanthrope in the AV production
After the Q&A session last night at the New Beverly for the American Werewolf In London and Beware The Moon double-feature, ShockTillYouDrop.com checked in with the doc’s writer/director/producer Paul Davis to see what he had lined up next and it seems that werewolves are still very much a part of his future.
He revealed exclusively to us that he’ll be playing a werewolf in Gladiators vs. Werewolves: Edge Of Empire, the latest movie from filmmaker Rob Green (The Bunker). Apparently, the gig came about once FX artist Shaune Harrison saw Davis’ size and insisted on putting him in a monster suit.
“It’s weird how this has all come about and in the space of two-weeks since Frightfest in London,” Davis tells us. “I can’t say too much but basically I was introduced to director Rob Green and producer Lee Brazier by creature effects artist Shaune Harrison (Harry Potter series) with the possibility of playing a werewolf – just being a guy in a monster suit – for their recently announced movie for AV Pictures [Lesbian Vampire Killers] called Gladiators vs. Werewolves: Edge Of Empire. I recently met with them and have been offered the part of one of the lead werewolves in the picture as well as the human incarnation of the character.”
Seeing Davis in front of the camera and moderating all of Beware The Moon‘s interstitial segments convinced the filmmakers that Paul was more then capable of playing his human counter-part as well.
“In addition I’ll also be getting back behind the camera to shoot the making of the movie. I’m very excited about the project. The script is excellent and only having had a couple of meetings with Rob and Lee, I know that this is going to be very much in the vein of fantastic old skool on-set special effects and high volume gore!”
Pre-production begins once Davis returns to London in October with shooting set to begin early next year. You can see a concept shot of one of the wolves, as well as a synopsis for the picture at this link.
