No CG, no animatronics, real great white sharks
Pre-production has begun on The Reef at Sydney, Australia’s Fox Studios for Mysterious Light and ProdigyMovies.
Damian Walshe-Howling, Zoe Naylor, Gyton Grantley, Adrienne Pickering and Kieran Darcy-Smith star as four friends who are forced to swim ashore when their boat capsizes in the Great Barrier Reef. Here’s the rub: They’re stalked by a 15-foot great white shark.
Writer-director Andrew Traucki (Black Water) asserts he will not use any CGI or animatronics when it comes to the sharks. Instead, he’ll use live footage of great whites shot in Southern Australia.
Principal photography begins this October in Hervey Bay in Queensland; you’ll be able to keep tabs on production via a live video stream that will go live on November 5.
