Vote on the best in DVD and Blu-Ray
The nominees for Reaper Awards 2009 are in!
This is the first awards campaign dedicated entirely to horror on home video and the nominees have been chosen by a panel of judges (which includes yours truly) from within the horror community.
“This year’s nominees range from some of the most popular horror films ever made to new critically acclaimed indies,” says Kyra Kudick, executive producer of the Reaper Awards. “It is a diverse selection and it is exciting to leave the choice of winners to those who would know best – the fans.”
Horror fans will now have the opportunity to choose the best horror DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs of the year in an online vote held Sept. 1 through Oct. 1 at ReaperAwards.com.
Winners of the “Grimmys” will receive handcrafted Grim Reaper statuettes designed and sculpted by Joe Sena, president of SphereWerx LLC, parent company of the FearWerx horror and EMCE Toy brands. The statuettes were cast by Paul Clarke of EMCE Toys and hand-painted and assembled by Sena.
The Grimmys will be celebrated Oct. 13 at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The event will include a red carpet for VIP guests, pre-show cocktail party and dinner, followed by an awards show featuring celebrity presenters. Registration is now open at ReaperAwards.com/event.
Although horror fans everywhere are encouraged to vote on the best DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs of the year, the awards show is currently only open to those fans who work in the industry. Reaper Awards 2009 is a professional business event for retailers, distributors, manufacturers and suppliers in home entertainment.
