Mephisto cast for overseas production
German director Oskar Roehler is set to direct Faust with Mortiz Bleibtreau in line to play Mephisto for Tele Muenchen Group and Clasart. Roehler recently directed Lulu & Jimi. This is his fourth production with Bliebtreu. The first printed source on the legend of Faust is a little chapbook bearing the title Historia von D. Johann Fausten, published in 1587. The tale tells of a man who makes a pact with the devil in exchange for knowledge. It has inspired countless authors, artists and filmmakers.
