Joe Johnston film plagued with reshoots?
Readers and friends of this site know I’m Universal classic monster junkie. And, needless to say, I’ve been following The Wolfman redo pretty closely so it broke my heart just a little bit more when Universal announced yesterday that the film was being pushed to a February 12, 2010 release.
In yesterday’s news item, I speculated that recent additional shooting has affected the film. Well, this morning I woke up to a few e-mails from insiders informing me of a few details that should be taken as rumor for right now until I dig further. I will say, however, these embellish on other things I’ve heard.
One tipster says Universal has sunk nearly $10-30 million into re-shoots in England. Much of the scenes had to do with the full Wolfman makeup because it wasn’t “working out” and “was too much like the original” Chaney makeup. Another writer tells me Rick Baker was brought back in to direct practical transformation work because the CGI, again, wasn’t working.
Honestly, I’m hoping the reason for the delay is the latter and I can get a statement from the studio and/or filmmakers.
