That Fright Night Remake is Back!

Still a vampire “horror-comedy”

The Fright Night remake has proven itself to be eternal. At least in the early development stages.

Nearly two years ago we told you Screen Gems was mulling over a redo. Then, at the beginning of this year (here) an insider informed us the drive to update Tom Holland’s ’85 film fizzled out.

The Hollywood Reporter says Dreamworks (!), along with Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films and producer Michael De Luca (who has had a long history in the genre), have picked up the remake rights.

There’s no writer or director yet, however, a few things are certain: It will still tell the story of a young man who discovers his neighbor next door is a vampire. And it will “keep the comedy-horror tone while modernizing the effects.”
