Anita Blake Coming to the Small Screen

Two-hour pilot ordered up

IFC and Lionsgate are teaming up to adapt Laurell K. Hamilton’s “Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter” books into a made-for-TV movie that could pave the way for a series.

Glen Morgan (The X-Files, Final Destination) is on board to helm the project which will intro viewers to Blake, a vampire hunter with a lousy dating life who also works as a police consultant investigating supernatural crimes. She attempts to come to terms with her own abilities and navigate romantic and political relationships within the vampire community.

Morgan is executive producing with Courtney Solomon.

Hamilton has published sixteen books about the character. Another chapter, “Skin Trade,” is due this June. Blake has also appeared in her own Marvel comic book series.

IFC is aiming to have Morgan’s film ready for 2010.
