Teens unleash “killer of lost children”

The writer behind a Martin Scorsese film that’s currently in production and a future James Cameron film is scripting an adaptation of Demon Keeper for Fox 2000.

Laeta Kalogridis will bring the Royce Buckingham novel to the big screen with director Sam Fell (The Tale of Despereaux, Flushed Away). Kalogridis also penned Scorsese’s Shutter Island and Battle Angel for Cameron.

Demon Keeper‘s origins began as a screenplay in 2002 when it was first optioned by Stan Winston’s production company. Later, it was picked up by Fox 2000 and sold as a novel to Penguin/Putnam’s young adult division.

The story concerns a teen who is entrusted to watch over a house of demons. He breaks free to go on a date, but when he returns he finds that kids have broken into the house, unleashing its most vicious demon, the Beast, Killer of Lost Children.
