Update: Last House B.O. Estimates

Craven remake opens in the top three



The Wes Craven remake The Last House on the Left, directed by Dennis Iliadis, took in an estimated $5.5 million on its opening day.

It tied for second place with Watchmen behind Race to Witch Mountain; the Disney film is expected to top the three-day box office tally. Watchmen is looking to come in at number 2 with a possible $18 million weekend. Analysts say Last House will come in third grossing an estimated $15 million.

Update: The remake did indeed come in at number three netting an estimated $14.6 million. Watchmen, in its second week, slipped to number two with $18 million and Race to Witch Mountain hit the number one spot with $25 million.
