Brookstreet eschews laughs for screams
The Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer team is at work on not just a sequel to last year’s comedic creature feature but a straight-up original horror movie as well.
I was tipped off that they were at work on a film entitled Cult so I turned to director Jon Knautz who revealed that “Cult” is just a tentative name right now and “it looks like its going to be Brookstreet Pictures’ next feature. I will be directing it and [Jack Brooks‘]Trevor Matthews will be playing a role.”
The story finds group of young journalists who are investigating a cult known to practice human sacrifice. Their ambitious ways might make them victims to their study, however. “It’s a straight horror this time, no comedy,” Knautz adds.
The script is in an early stage of development at this time and the director cautions us from believing anything that might be on the IMDB regarding the film as there are names attached that are not actually involved in the film. “We’re in the process of fixing that.”
