Priest Lands Second Director at Screen Gems

Stewart taking on horror-western

When Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror) exited Priest, originally set to star Gerard Butler, over creative differences the project went silent for a good year or so. Now, The Hollywood Reporter states Scott Charles Stewart is picking up the reins of this horror western and will direct for Screen Gems.

Cory Goodman penned Priest, an adaptation of a TokyoPop comic book which tells of a “warrior priest” tracking a band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece. Michael De Luca, Mitchell Peck and Stars Road Entertainment’s Josh Donen are producing.

Stewart also directed Legion – another Screen Gems film slated to bow in early 2010. Prior to cutting his teeth in the director’s chair on that picture, he co-founded the visual effects shop Orphanage (Hellboy, Jeepers Creepers II).
