Would Hurd Want to Revisit Bad Dreams?

She might redo Alien Nation

This week we had the opportunity to sit down with Gale Anne Hurd, the producer of tomorrow’s release Punisher: War Zone as well as The Terminator, Aliens and Tremors.

During our candid conversation about Frank Castle’s latest mission brimming with the ol’ ultra-violence (emphasis on ultra), we asked if the sharks were swarming around some of the genre projects from her early days with the intent to remake them. Particularly Bad Dream, the 1988 film directed by Andrew Fleming and starring Richard Lynch, Bruce Abbott and Jennifer Rubin.

“Andy Fleming! Hamlet 2 is fabulous,” said Hurd. “I don’t know, I’m going to see Andy this weekend, I’ll ask him if he’d like to do it. He’s certainly grown as a filmmaker, so wouldn’t that be fun?”

The producer did reveal “We’re talking about Alien Nation I think it’d be terrific to redo. It’s really relevant now so we have been talking about it.” James Caan and Mandy Patinkin starred in this sci-fi flick, also from ’88, where aliens have come to Earth and integrated themselves into society.

So, what? No Virus redo? Sorry, nope.
