Underworld: Rise of the Lycans opens in theaters on January 23rd to fill in the story gaps and explore what ignited the ongoing conflict between the vampire race and the Lycans seen in Len Wiseman’s Underworld and Underworld: Evolution. One of the principle players on the battlefield is Viktor as played by Bill Nighy (Comic-Con interview) who figures quite prominently in the official Rise of the Lycans poster ShockTillYouDrop.com is premiering below.

FX vet Patrick Tatopoulos is directing this time out from a script by Danny McBride, Dirk Blackman and Howard McCain (Len Wiseman takes co-story credit). And no, Kate Beckinsale doesn’t return as Seline, however, fans get hottie Rhona Mitra swinging big swords alongside returning cast members Michael Sheen and Kevin Grevioux. Here, Mitra and Sheen play Sonja and Lucian, respectively; they’re lovers from opposite ends of the frontlines who confront Viktor’s tyranny against the Lycans.
