Mendes doesn’t have a script yet
Sometimes the Hollywood trade papers like Variety and The Hollywood Reporter jump the gun like the rest of us. In the wake of the former’s announcement stating Sam Mendes was to direct the long-mooted adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s comic book Preacher, Mendes is offering a few facts.
“This is a typical Variety announcement,” Mendes tells Empire. “âMendes to direct Preacherâ â I wish! Basically they should have written, âMendes in development with Preacherâ. What I’m doing is, I’ve gotta find a script. I’ve just got to get it written.”
