More casting bunk for 2008?
If George Clooney is indeed in talks to star in Platinum Dunes and Universal’s remake of The Birds, its news to co-producer Brad Fuller.
This morning, various sites picked up and ran with an IMDB listing that placed Clooney in the Rod Taylor role alongside previously rumored-to-star Naomi Watts. This may have stemmed from the UK paper Dailey Express who got to talking with Taylor about the remake. “I often cringe when I hear mention of remakes but I’ll hold judgment, especially since I’ve been told Clooney’s the favorite,” he said.
I reached out to Platinum Dunes’ Fuller who tells me, “No one has mentioned anything to me. I am as surprised as you are.”
This whole thing sounds like a case of misinterpreted soundbytes similar to the whole Billy Bob Thornton/Freddy Krueger mess.
