Vertigo Films (Quarantine) and Brian Witten are producing Jayson Rothwell’s script The Mountain for Legendary Pictures.
According to THR, Rothwell will begin writing the film based on a few ideas kicked around in-house at Legendary. The story is a man versus nature thriller about a young sheriff, recently relocated from the city to a small town, who gathers up a search party to look for missing hikers in the Cascade Mountains. They find, however, there’s danger waiting for them.
Sonny Mallhi at Vertigo will shepherd the project. Rothwell, meanwhile, recently penned Malice in Wonderland which is currently filming in the UK.
