Based on the R.L. Stine series
Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander are closing in on Goosebumps, a film they would write spawned from the popular R.L Stine book series announced in May.
The pair previously penned Tim Burton’s Ed Wood and 1408.
Produced through Neil Moritz’s Original Films and Scholastic Media’s Deborah Forte, Goosebumps will not take its cue from another Stine novel in particular. Instead it will be a stand-alone creepy tale geared towards the younger set. Sony, who will distribute, is eyeing to turn Goosebumps into a franchise.
According to THR, “Moritz has said he likely will cast youngsters for the leads and then include well-known actors in supporting roles, a la the Potter films.”
