SDCC ’08: Men in Black Producer Believes in Spooks!

Live-action future for comic series

Barry Josephson is attaching himself to a live-action adaptation of Spooks, the Devil’s Due comic book conceived by Ryan Schifrin (Abominable) and Larry Hama (G.I. Joe). ShockTillYouDrop.com learned of the news today at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Set in a world where monsters exist, Spooks concerns itself with a secret branch of the government that protects humanity from things that go bump in the night. But when the king of all vampires forms an alliance with the deadliest of witches to launch an invasion of classic monsters on Washington, D.C., the Spooks find themselves in an all-out battle for the fate of the planet!

Josephson will find a writer to adapt the series and then shop the property around to various studios.

During his time at Columbia Pictures, where he served as head of production, Josephson was an integral player in the making of Men in Black, The Professional and The Fifth Element. He most recently produced Enchanted and the upcoming Fox flick They Came from Upstairs.
